Dining Hall Supervisor

Department: Dining Services
Location: Chestertown, MD

Washington College is seeking qualified applicants for a Full-Time Dining Hall Supervisor. This position supervises the Dining Services food service program and the associates within the area. Assists in all phases of training, special events, safety, sanitation, quality control, customer service and client relations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hold pre-shift meetings and communicate to associates what is taking place that day
  • Assures compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements
  • Follow and enforce the food allergen program to ensure food safety at all times
  • Make sure all production records, temp logs, cooler logs and other paperwork is being completed on a daily basis
  • May need to complete some prep work including, washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding vegetables and fruits along with weighing and measuring designated ingredients
  • Distributes supplies, utensils, and portable equipment
  • Assists with catering and other special events in preparation, service and clean up
  • Ensures that associates are utilizing approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
  • Serves customers in an efficient and friendly manner following outlined steps of service
  • Interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly and service oriented manner
  • Interacts with co-workers to ensure compliance with company service standards, and inventory and cash control procedures
  • Direct and ensure that daily and weekly cleaning of the dining service areas of operation are completed so that it meets operating standards

Qualifications: 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess basic math ability and the ability to multi-task. Schedule may include days, nights, weekends and holidays. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
