Accounts Receivable Manager

Department: Business Office
Location: Chestertown, MD

Washington College seeks qualified applicants for a full-time Accounts Receivable Manager. This position requires an understanding of accounts receivable, collection procedures and general business office practices.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for all student, employee and other miscellaneous billings. This includes maintaining the "Autobiller" in Colleague, transmitting financial aid entries, uploading student charges from other campus systems as well as manual adjustments.
  • Maintains all accounts receivable reports and correspondence files
  • Coordinates study abroad and international student billing activities with the appropriate departments and institutions
  • Prepares accounts receivable reports and analysis as requested
  • Provides information to faculty, staff and students regarding payments and charges
  • Coordinates with Financial Aid Office regarding student loans and other pending aid
  • Acts as liaison with Official Payments. Reconciles Official Payments payment plan information and receipts. Explores new payment options as they become available
  • Maintains security deposit files and processes accounts receivable refunds as appropriate
  • Monitors special payment arrangements made with individual students and/or parents, both in-house arrangements and Official Payments payment plan arrangements
  • Maintains student accounts receivable hold flags and comment fields for all accounts
  • Supervises Assistant Accounts Receivable position and the posting of daily cash receipts
  • Performs collection activities in accordance with College policies and procedures
  • Various monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations
  • Maintain student loan records in accordance with appropriate Federal regulations and College policies

Education:

  • Associates degree in Accounting or Business Administration or 3 years related experience preferred.

Experience and Background:

  • Experience with account receivable, collections and cashiering
  • General accounting/business office experience
  • Experience and knowledge of computer information systems, as well as word processing and spreadsheet programs
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Good communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience in handling confidential and delicate issues in a tactful manner
